Do I need a licence to collect scrap metal?
Yes. In England and Wales you need a scrap metal collector’s licence from the council for each area you collect in, plus a waste carrier registration. You must have your licence before you start collecting. You can register with Scrap4Free while you apply and we’ll show you how to get set up – you’ll start taking jobs once you’re licensed.
How do I get paid?
You keep 100% of the scrap value. Customers give you the scrap for free and you’re paid by the scrap yard. Scrap4Free doesn’t take any commission or fee per job.
